Data is often hidden away because people and companies are incentivized to keep it private. This centralizes power while impeding growth because of redundancy and lost information.
We imagine a world where public and private incentives to share data are aligned both financially and ethically. Decentralized and pseudonymous ownership facilitate this via radical transparency.
In the information age, access to knowledge empowers us as individuals and as a species by leveling the playing field for all.
“Instead of a hierarchical structure managed by a set of humans interacting in person and controlling property via the legal system, a decentralized organization involves a set of humans interacting with each other according to a protocol specified in code, and enforced on the blockchain.” — Vitalik Buterin
Immutable traceability of information, such as the results of breeding projects, will incentivize people (particularly those in areas where cannabis is still illegal) to share their information without fear of losing proper credit and acknowledgement for their work. Both small and large contributions to the field can be attributed to the rightful source and contributors can be rewarded for participating in the community.
Through the implementation of CannaData.Market, we at Cannabis Genome DAO aim to facilitate securely sharing assets and information pertaining to cannabis genome research on a non-duplicatable, non-corruptible, trustless and decentralized network. Examples of assets and information that would be shared on our network include: genome sequences, variant analysis files, coding and analysis scripts, laboratory protocols, breeding information, cultivation parameters, cultivar descriptions (general text) and phenotypic traits (using standardized values).
Cannabis Genome DAO Overview Deck
Not at all! You can join the Discord server and gain access to the community for free. This will let you participate in discussions and interact with other members. You can also view any of the resources being shared and contribute your own. Data upload and storage fees for the marketplace will also be completely free for majority of users, as they will be subsidized by the DAO treasury and a small commission on transactions. However, voting and participating in governance will require holding $CSAT token. When CannaData.Market is live members will need $CSAT to use and analyze data. You can earn $CSAT instead of purchasing it by earning from your uploaded data or by participating in the community in other ways.
The invention of smart contracts enables completely automated enforcement of the organizations rules. Everything from onboarding new members, proposing changes, voting/decision making, funding projects and getting paid is 100% automated and transparent. By implementing these concepts on a publicly auditable blockchain we can achieve a truly honest meritocratic democracy.
